YIULIAN DOCKYARDS (SHEKOU) Ltd. EXPANDS
Yiulian Dockyards Limited founded in October 1964 is a subsidiary of China Merchants Group that engages in the ship-repair industry.
Presently, Yiulian operates 3 shipyards in Hong Kong, Shekou and Zhangzhou and owns 5 floating docks ranging from 30,000 dwt to 180,000 dwt.
With the development of marine industry as well as meeting the increased
demand of ship-repair, The China Merchants Group invested RMB 2.4 billion to move Shekou Yiulian to a new location on Mazhou Island in the Pearl River delta. The capacity will be significantly increased by the investment being made in the new facilities that will begin production in the middle of 2007. This includes two new VLCC dry docks, measuring 400m x 83m and 360m x 67m as well as ship repair quays of 3010m in length overall. It will be the largest ship repair yard in China by that time.
Not only is Yiulian expanding their yard, there is also discussions about expanding their market in two ways.
They are looking to market heavy container ship trades in their region, and expand their technical capacity for the offshore industry. Yiulian has shown that not only do they have the capacity, they also deliver quality service to support important sectors.
Recent Projects
Repair and conversion of Global Industries’ pipe laying barge, Hercules, which consists of the repair and conversion of accommodations, steel, pipe and electromechanical systems.
Conversion of Salmar Shipping Ltd’s M/T Minotaur, which included a double hulling, steel work over 1,800 tons, ice class reinforcement, etc.
