Detyens Shipyards recently completed major refurbishment on the Carnival Fascination
Detyens Shipyards, Inc(DSI), in Charleston, South Carolina most recently accomplished a major top side refurbishment on the Carnival Fascination. DSI had the ship for 17 days. DSI provided general services during the renovations, using three shoreside cranes, and 1-100 ton floating crane to handle 350 containers.
Two Shore side cranes and a 100 ton floating crane were utilized to lift the outboard lifeboat winches. DSI was able to completely overhaul all the lifeboat winches during the docking. Trash barges were stationed along side the vessel to allow for trash removal.
In addition, Detyens renovated a former naval barracks located within three miles of the vessel to house 264 subcontractors from Italy. A galley was also re-opened near the barracks to provide the subcontractors with food, games etc.
Other new features, for the vessel, included a teen club, part of the line’s ongoing expansion of its popular “Club 02” teen program. In addition, a new 1,600-square-foot Children’s World Play Area, located on Verandah Deck, will enhance the line’s top-rated fleet wide Camp Carnival Children’s Program, which hosts about 525,000 children annually.
The Fascination’s luxurious Spa Carnival was also renovated and includes new private treatment rooms, updated exercise equipment, and a host of cosmetic enhancements to the 12,000-square-foot facility. Staterooms and suites on the Fascination were refurbished, & upgraded with amenities such as: flat screen TVs, an entirely new décor and completely remodeled bathrooms. The refurbishment incorporated upgrades to the carpeting and upholstery, and modifications to the layout of the Aft Lounge and casino area, to accommodate larger groups.
