Técnico Corporation located in Mobile, Alabama, is dedicated to supporting ship owners and shipyards in modular fabrication and virtual shipbuilding. Técnico’s Mobile facility is fully equipped with 1080 ft in length and 30 ft in depth of pier space, one 30 ton crane, two 10 ton overhead cranes, 68,000 sq ft of inside shop area, 50,000 sq ft of production area and 1200 amps of shore power service, makes this facility an ideal location for modular fabrication needs.
Northrop Grumman awarded the LHS-6, amphibious assault vessel, modular fabrication contract to Técnico Corporation in Mobile, AL. This contract, with approximately 100 people working on it, along with the completion of the previous contract the LPD-24 modular fabrication, has added 50 new jobs.
The LHA-6 modules weigh between 30-120 tons, are 30 ft x 40 ft x (10 ft high) and are made of welded aluminum, while the LPD-24 modules are steel.
At the Mobile facility, Técnico will provide the maritime industry with an array of services and turn-key project management including steel and aluminum fabrication, modular construction and virtual shipbuilding for the offshore sector and shipyards in the Gulf of Mexico.
